The Old Man and The Companion
The Gist
OMAC is a story that spans hundreds of years, multiple different time periods and settings, and a number of contrasting genres ranging from fantasy to sci-fi. It focuses on an old man and young boys' journey to uncover the secrets of the boy's homeland and attempt to recover the lives lost from the apocalyptic event that occurred over a century ago and it's lingering effects. The world, at points once teeming with magic and futuristic technology, is now a shell of its former self, waiting to be explored by the dwindling remains of humanity.

Our Journey
The Ball Begins to Roll
We approached OMAC with more purpose than Auxilia, and it led to the world developing far more naturally. Over the course of a year, we slowly developed the main story, beginning with characters and moving out from there. During this time, we also started a twitter account, began to consistently update our discord channel, and started to gain interest from possible collaborators and fans as the project grew.
Animation Studio Inquiry
As we acquired more and more team members, we received inquiry from an amateur indie animation studio named Upside Down Studio. They had only one prior project, but I'd recently joined as an animator for their JJK collab. After conversations with the heads of the studio, a handshake deal was agreed upon making the OMAC pilot episode Upside Down Studio's next collaborative project. The core OMAC team will handle scripting, storyboarding, division of cuts, formation of animation teams, and will oversee collaborators at every step of the way, ensuring consistency in the art, animation, and artistic vision overall.
Auxilia
The Old Man and The Companion began as a casual, collaborative writing project between a few high school friends. Though, it was not the group's first project. Auxilia was an Avatar: The Last Airbender inspired writing project centered around a group of friends living through a civil war. The anthology, pages of lore, and script pieces we wrote for Auxilia would become the jumping off point for our work on OMAC. Though the group would lose one of its founding member as OMAC began to pickup, it was clear that OMAC was going to reach another level than Auxilia ever had
The Formation of a Team
As we solidified the episode outlines for each episode in the first OMAC season, we began to formulate a clearer timeline and build up a team of collaborators. Through social media and platforms like Discord, we acquired over twenty interested artists and animators in addition to a sound designer and two voice actors. As it became clearer that the idea of OMAC could become a reality, we decided to put our focus on the pilot episode, with hopes of producing it ourselves and releasing it on YouTube.
Production Starts in the Now
With the episode one script receiving finishing touches, the core OMAC team is focused on finalizing the first episode and expanding the collaborative roster. While the ambitious goal of dividing cuts like a professional studio makes this finalization process tedious, we hope that taking our time here will pay dividends in regards to our final product. In a few short days, our animator forms will open and I will begin assembling animation teams to tackle the first cuts of OMAC as we simultaneously finish up storyboarding and character design.
